Simon Johnson

Simon Johnson is an accomplished investment banking professional with a passion for innovation, community development, and strategic problem-solving. With a strong and diverse background in Economics and Investments, Simon excels in delivering exceptional results within complex and dynamic environments.

Simon earned a Bachelor’s degree in Banking & Finance and a Master’s Degree in Economics (with a focus on development and financial economics), both from the University of the West Indies Mona Campus in Jamaica.

Simon has held various senior roles in Investment Research, Investment Banking, Asset Management, and Deal Structuring. He currently serves as an Investment Officer at the IDB Lab, a subsidiary of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). He has responsibility for originating, structuring, and analysing debt and equity opportunities across the region. He is also responsible for managing the IDB Lab’s existing debt and equity portfolio in the region.

Simon is passionate about financial literacy and general financial inclusion. He is the founder of Stocks on the Rocks (#SOTR), an organization dedicated to creating inclusive spaces within which people can have healthy discussions about money. This movement has grown rapidly, spreading its reach across Jamaica; impacting communities and lives.
