Dietetics and Nutrition

The Department of Dietetics at the Bellevue Hospital plays a vital role in the delivery of quality service to our valued patients. We operate with a staff compliment of thirty (30) consisting of Dietitian, Assistant Dietitians, Cooks and other Dietary Attendants.

The team of technical staff is required to supervise the production of meals daily to meet the needs of the patients admitted to this institution. To achieve this, the department operates three shifts daily.  Each patient dietary idiosyncrasies’are attended to within the wide range of diets provided namely Regular, Soft and Pureed diets as well as other therapeutic diets such as Low Sodium, Renal and Diabetic. We also provide Enteral Nutrition for those patients who are unable to be fed orally.

It is the aim of the Department to fulfil each patient dietary requirement by providing meals in adequate amounts in a safe environment and of a quality that will promote nutrition at its optimal level. We are committed to delivering meals to our patients on a timely basis and in a manner that will stimulate their pallets thus encouraging maximum satisfaction and minimal plate waste.
