Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation Programme

Occupational Therapy (OT) at Bellevue Hospital was started in 1959 by Mrs. Beryl Watson and Mr. Alton Dyce, two of the first occupational therapists in Jamaica. Since then, the department has improved on and developed numerous therapeutic programmes for both in and outpatients.

Today, the OT Centre is staffed by a Unit Supervisor, A woodwork instructor, A Tailor, Voluntary Art Instructors and by extension a Farm Manager

The Centre Opens between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm on weekdays.
It caters to the needs of patients whose lives have been disrupted by:

  • Physical injury or disability
  • Developmental issues
  • Ageing
  • Social or emotional problems
